Barry Gavin

Barry commenced his career as a physical educationalist (Diploma of Physical Education) and playing football for North Melbourne. A severe knee injury ended his football career and he then pursued a career in physiotherapy. He completed his Diploma of Physiotherapy at Lincoln Institute.

Barry soon became involved as the team physiotherapist at Hawthorn Football Club, a position he held from 1973-2003. He spent the 2004 season with the Melbourne Storm NRL team filling in for their injured physiotherapist. He has also worked with Rugby Union where he was honorary physiotherapist to the Aspen Rugby Club (five times national champions). Barry is a keen snow skier and still regularly participates.

Barry started the Reservoir Physiotherapy Clinic in 1973, Hawthorn Physiotherapy Clinic in 1983 and Total Physiocare in Heidelberg in 2002. He remains a partner in both Reservoir Physiotherapy Clinic and Total Physiocare Group.

He has extensive experience in rehabilitation as well as acute injuries, having worked for 30 years with a number of Melbourne’s top orthopaedic surgeons. He is still a regular physiotherapist at both Warringal (Delete working at Vimy) Private Hospital with these same surgeons.
